Small Base Plate for 81 mm Brandt Mortar mle 27/31
Description
Circular base plate for the 81 mm Brandt Mortar mle 27/31for use on hardened surfaces. The base plate is made from pressed steel and features four spear-pointed ground anchors and two carrying handles formed from round section steel bar. A circular socket holds the mortar barrel in place. The base plate is painted matt grey.
History / Summary
Small mortar baseplate used by Vichy French and German forces during the Second World War. This barrel was collected at Tobruk in March 1942.
