Putting out the oil fire, Seria
Description
Overcoming great difficulties in the way of equipment, and the rationing and equipping of the Malay workers, Dutch-American Engineer Captain shown in Khaki in the centre of picture with Australian Engineers, succeeded minutes after picture shown in putting out the first of the large fires on the coast at Seria, North West Borneo. With the apparatus shown the gushing oil was side-tracked and the balance of the blaze suffocated with steam. Engineer Sergeant in the asbestos suit manipulated apparatus made by LAD on the spot. Motor pump in the foreground was captured from the Japanese.
