Cruiser in Dock
Description
A drawing of the HMAS "Australia" in the large dock at Cockatoo Island. This sketch was made from a position on the floor of the dock alongside the keel ofthe ship looking aft and outwards. The screw is the for'ard one on the port side. An elaborate system of blocks and tackle is used to haul this great bronze casting into place. The men are dwarfed by the machinery around them.
