Furniture (by POW)
Description
Depicts seven groups of make-shift furniture acquired or made by prisoners of war at the River Road Camp: a plank chair, a rope swinging bed, a suspended slat bed, a cigarette lighter, a dressing table, a dining room suite, and a truck seat. The intersection of River Valley Road and Havelock Road, Singapore, was the site of two POW camps which acted as dispatch camps for working parties. Brindley was amongst the POWs in these parties tasked with repairing the bomb damaged buildings in the city.
