This cartoon is for a section of the final painting, 'Stretcher bearers in the Owen Stanleys' [ART26653]. It shows an Australian soldier in a raincoat carrying a rifle over his right shoulder and walking down the mountain, however the image sketched here was not replicated in the final painting.
