Description
Sketch of soldiers from the 2/10 Australian Infantry Battalion opening mail. Some are standing, while others are seated with their rifles laying next to them. Dargie noted, "I saw this when the 2/10th Bn was moving up through Casey's Knoll to relieve 2/12th Bn at Ward's Village. The relieving battalion had brought the mail in with them. The men, who were very wet and very dirty after their march out, sat down in the mud and began to read".
