Reinforcements, between Igaree Corner and Lagincourt
Description
Two soldiers of the 2nd Australian Divisions in full kit going along a communication trench near Igaree Corner, France. The soldiers are on the left, Captain C J Fletcher, possibly of Postal Corps, and on the right, Daryl Lindsay. The place on the Western Front, Igaree, comes from the Arabic 'igri' - to hurry. Above them is a dark sky, filled with shell bursts. The soldiers in the trench are possibly named 'Dan' and 'Fletch' according to an inscription by the artist.
