A conference held at the head office of the Frankfurt Red Cross Society, Frankfurt. This conference was arranged for the purpose of assisting the English and Australian representatives to trace missing British prisoners of war (POWs). Information of value was obtained from their records. Seated round a table, reading from left to right: Herr Trier, a German civilian who spoke English fluently and, throughout the war was in charge of the British section of the Frankfurt Red Cross Society; Mr Zerffi, an English resident of Berlin who was engaged by the British mission in Berlin to help in the search of missing British POWs; Captain Charles Mills, representing AIF Headquarters, London and the Australian Red Cross Society; a German officer who was the director of the Frankfurt Red Cross Society; Lieutenant Colonel H R Charley, Royal Irish Rifles, representing the British Red Cross Society in Berlin.
