Sketch for No. 129
Description
This drawing is a sketch for the final painting 'Anzac Day Service'. It features 464 Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force participating in an Anzac Day Service in 1945 at a base outside of Brussels, Belgium. Men are gathered in a large semi-circle, while the Service is being conducted by a chaplain. The men stand with their heads bowed and arms behind their backs. In the background aircraft are flying by, carrying former prisoners of war from Germany to England.
