[Soldier in plumed hat]
Description
Gallipoli soldier's head wearing plumed slouch hat. The image of the young soldier of the light horse with his plumed hat is a symbol of youth, bravery, and innocence. Nolan felt that at the time there was a 'certain innocence about being Australian' and he wanted to capture the innocence of those young soldiers who went off to Gallipoli.
