Soldier, Arthur Boyd
Description
Portrait of soldier wearing plumed hat thought to resemble Nolan's friend Arthur Boyd, as remembered when they were both in the Second World War. "It is not a portrait of my friend Arthur Boyd, but it looks very much like him. There is an innocent, yet knowing look which I often saw on Arthur during the war when we were both in uniform together." Sidney Nolan in conversation with Gavin Fry, February 1982.
