Description
Drawing made as a study for background to be used in painting depicting Australian destroyers disembarking men and store in full moon-light during the early stages of the siege. Later trips were made only on moonless nights. Bombed and resting on the bottom is H.M.S "Chakla", beyond her is SS Urana, astern of her is a tug. Behind the wrecks is the town with Admiralty House most prominent. On the right of Admiralty House are the concrete water towers and the Annex, where Naval ratings are accommodated. Bombs have fallen in the back of the town, Tobruk, Libya.
