Description
Allied personnel at Japanese positions in Hollandia, Irian Jaya. Hollandia was renamed 'Jayapura' by the Indonesians c 1947. After the Americans captured Hollandia, General Macarthur made it into a large base for air and naval operations. The image shows American landing craft with Australian troops inside.
