Playground for recovery
Description
Once a peace time resort, well known to Tableland visitors, this hostel is now being used by 2/1st Australian Convalescent Depot as a recuperative spot for recovering cases, mainly malarial. The dense jungle, tumbling into the water on the far side. The clear waters and swimming facilities all combine to make a stay in this Depot a treasured memory by many. The imitation lamp-post on the right bears the sign 'Lake Side Inn". It is just out-side the Officers' Mess; some of the officers are shown in deck chairs on the lawn that terminates in the stairs down to the main building.
