Sergeant (Sergeant Lorenzo Nolan)
Description
Portrait of Sergeant Lorenzo Nolan, VX109709, originally with the 4th Australian Division Army Service Corps. He was later a caterer for the same unit and also sang with the 4th Australian Divisional Concert Party as a lyric tenor, Atherton, Queensland, May 1944.
Charles Bush (1919-1989) was appointed an official war artist between 1943 and 1946. He studied at the National Gallery of Victoria School, then in London with Bernard Meninsky between 1935 and 1940 and in France, Italy and Spain. He enlisted in 1940 and in 1942 was recommended to work on the service annuals for the years 1942 and 1943.
