Portrait depicting Lieutenant Austin Rule of the 2nd Company Australian Forestry Unit, engineers unit. The 2nd Company based in Thornhill, Dryfenholme, Lockerbie were operating the wood mill to fell and machine timber for use in structural operations such as bridge building, roads, shelter fortifications and ammunition crates.
