The homeless, Normandy, 1944
Description
Independent transport in the form of a Ford utility gave Colahan unique access to the changes brought on by the rapid military advance in Europe. During his second deployment as an official war artist, he observed at first hand a time of monumental change. The desolation of families is sensitively portrayed by Colahan as they collect their belongings and leave their homes to begin new lives.
