Small craft anchored off Napa Napa, awaiting repairs
Description
Dargie noted "The lugger occupying the foreground of this painting has been used for some time by the Americans as a means of supplying troops in isolated forward areas. I was interested to note that Gen [General Sir Thomas] Blamey recently stated that the experience gained from supplying Tobruk whilst it was besieged, by means of small craft, led to the extensive use of such shipping in the New Guinea campaign."
