Lieutenant Roden Cutler
Description
Depicts a portrait of Lieutenant A Roden Cutler, VC, 2/5th Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. He was awarded the Victoria Cross during the campaign in Syria in 1941 for outstanding work in fighting around Merdjayoun and Damour. Severe wounds in Damour resulted in the amputation of a leg and terminated Cutler's active service in the war. Knighted in 1965, Sir Roden became Governor of New South Wales in the following year.
