Description
Sister Veronica Harbourd, Royal Australian Air Force Nursing Service, painted against a tropical setting, Morotai, New Guinea. In a letter to Colonel Treloar, dated 20 August 1945, Heysen noted of the work: "In Morotai I selected what I thought a representative type of the women doing that job and painted her against a tropical setting".
