Description
Dipicts the grave of unidentified pilot, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), No 450 Squadron, with two unidentified men (RAAF padre and another), part of wrecked aircraft in background, propellor used as grave marker, near Farno, Italy. It is believed this work depicts the burial of Hughie Gater, a pilot with the South African Air Force who had lost his life in northern Italy.
