Description
Depicts the troopship ship, HMT Queen Mary, seen from the top deck of the HMT Queen Elizabeth during the convoy's passage from Fremantle, Western Australia to Trincomalee, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) . HMT Queen Mary travelled between Fremantle and Trincomalee between 4 and 12 January 1941. With the escorting cruiser out ahead the three big ships ('Aquatania' not shown) are steaming in line ahead. The HMT Queen Mary was SS Queen Mary, an ocean liner converted to troop ship, and was used to carry Australian troops to the Middle East.
