Quarterdeck, HMAS Warramunga
Description
An Australian sailor sitting on the quaterdeck of HMAS Warramunga (1) which is off the island of Sok-To in Korea. At the time the Australian destroyer was part of a multi national naval unit patrolling in the defence of the islands of Sokto and Chodo off the northwest coast of Korea. In the distance other ships in this unit are visible, including the American destroyer USS Kimberley, LSMR401 and the British frigate HMS Mount's Bay. During the daytime the unit weighed anchor off the coast to be out of range of enemy shore batteries and mortars.
