Kumawa - Sisi Junction
Kumawa is halfway up the Sattelberg Road. 2/23th Australian Infantry Battalion relieved 2/15th Australian Infantry Battalion in the Kumawa area. From this area extensive preliminary patrolling took place. "B" Company, 2/23rd Australlian Infantry Battalion, advancing from Kumawa via Sisi village, contacted 2/48th Australian Infantry Battalion. Seventy-nine enemy were killed in this area of New Guinea.
