[Two warriors]
Description
Two warriors in combat. Frontal upper body of warrior holding above his head a three-legged body of a dead warrior lying horizontally with his head pointing to the right. The figures are modelled with brown paint against a reserved ground. The dead warrior has a cream loin cloth which falls over the supporting warrior's right arm. The figures are reminiscent of Ancient Greek figures and black figure pottery and the date of execution suggests that they were originally done for a mythological series. The artist confirmed this in an interview of 13 April 1978.
