Waterloo Station
Description
Waterloo station, London, under black-out. Figures moving through the railway station; a large four sided railway clock hangs in the middle of the main conourse and at the upper left in the painting. A famous place for a rendezvous, beneath the clock, a couple embrace. In the lower right, a couple, the male in Air Force uniform, are caught in a downlight in conversation as they stroll along the station. To the far right, a uniformed man stands wearing a gas mask, an insidious reminder that these are times of war.
