Not titled [11 cartoons for painting at Owers' Corner]
Description
This series of eleven drawings on paper were cartoons for a painting of Australian troops at Owers' Corner in Papua New Guinea. However, the painting was never made, instead these eleven individual sheets, when assembled together, create the image. Dargie recalled, "Everyone that passed up or down the Owen Stanley track knew this place very well. It was the end of the road for track vehicles of any kind; from here supplies were carried on the backs of the natives. The wounded walked, or were carried back to this point".
