Description

Movietone News special on the RAN in the 1930's and up to 1941. Shows HMAS Sydney departing Albany in 1914. The arrival of HMAS Brisbane which was paid off for disposal in September 1935. HMAS Albatross which was transferred to the R.N. in 1938. The arrival of the "Scrap Iron Flotilla" which was transferred to the RAN in 1932. Also shown is training for the RAN, units at sea. In battle and convoying troopships. There is coverage on shipbuilding and the arming of merchant ships. The film's purpose is morale boosting the commentary is not historically accurate to the visuals.
