Description

On 28th February 1946, the Japanese aircraft carrier Katsuragi arrived at Rabaul carrying 1,400 Koreans who refused to disembark to make way for 2,500 Japanese POW. After an armed escort persuaded the Koreans to leave the ship the Japanese troops embarked. These were the first POW to be repatriated to Japan from New Britain.
