Promising experiment: new aircraft fire-rescue tender
Description
Cinesound newsreel extract on a new Australian fire tender designed to rescue trapped passengers by cutting a hole in an aircrafts fuselage to create an escape access. The fire tender was demonstrated by the Department of Civil Aviation at Laverton, Victoria. An Avro Lincoln bomber fuselage was used in the demonstration. The fire tender was intended to be standard equipment at all Australian airports.
