The Australian torpedeo boat destroyers Parramatta and Yarra
Description
Extract from the Pathe Gazette newsreel of the arrival at Port Melbourne, Victoria of the River Class destroyers HMAS Parramatta and HMAS Yarra on 10 December 1910. A welcome is signalled by means of flags to the destroyers. The Governor General The Right Hon. William Humble Ward, 2nd Earl of Dudley, GCB GCMG GCVO TD PC lands at the Naval depot and inspects the cadets. The destroyers enter the Alfred Graving Dock, Williamstown. Captain Ticknell and his officers are welcomed by the Governor General, the State Governor The Rt Hon. Lord Carmichael GCSI GCIE KCMG DL and Federal and State Ministers
