Nowra aerodrome construction
Description
Department of Main Roads (DMR) film covering all the aspects of the construction of Nowra aerodrome. Film begins with a brief history of the war time work of the DMR in airfield construction. Shows the movement of heavy equipment from the Granville depot by the convoy system. Clearing of virgin bushland by bulldozers, installation of a drainage system, leveling the strip, movement of tons of gravel and accelerated operations used to consolidate the gravel and finally the application of the flush seal protective coating.
