The town of Heraklion on the north coast of Crete, being bombed by the German Luftwaffe during the German airborne invasion of the island. This image was taken about 100 metres north of the 14th British Infantry Brigade Headquarters looking to the east. Abandoned British vehicles are visible in the foreground.
