Description
HMAT Katoomba leaving the southern Italian port. The ship is painted in a disruptive camouflage pattern. This 9424 ton merchant vessel, requisitioned like many others for use as a transport, carried American, British, Australian, Indian and Turkish troops and served in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans. She was the first Allied merchant vessel to pass through the Dardanelles after the armistice.
