The light cruiser HMAS Sydney steaming through the North Sea as seen from her fellow cruiser HMS Birmingham. An important German wireless call had just been intercepted. HMAS Sydney patrolled the North Sea with the Royal Navy's 2nd Light Cruiser Squadron from November 1916 until the surrender of the German High Seas Fleet in November 1918.
