Keijo, Korea. 1945. Surrender ceremony inside the throne room of Government House building, Keijo, Korea. This ceremony marked the end of 40 years of Japanese domination of the country. Koreans were obviously delighted by their liberation. At the ceremony the Japanese were seated opposite General Hodge and Admiral Kinkaid and their staff officers. Seated, leaning forward at table, left, Gisabure Yamaguchi, Commander in charge of Chinkai Naval Station and Commander of Japanese Naval Forces in Korea, central seated figure is the Japanese Governor General of Korea, Nobiuki Abe, a former premier of Japan.
