Solomon Sea. 1943-10-02. A Japanese Betty bomber aircraft caught on an early morning sweep by Beaufighter aircraft of No. 30 Squadron RAAF crashed and burning on the sea. The Betty was shot down by Flight Lieutenant A. A. Thompson DFC (pilot) and Flying Officer J. P. O. White (navigator) flying aircraft A19-137. They followed Pilot Officer E. M. Morrow (pilot) and Sergeant C. V. Gollan (navigator) flying aircraft A19-142 who put the rear gunner out of action. (see also P1275/33/19) (Donor D. West)
