Description
A portrait of VX43307 Private (Pte) Donald Gordon Boyce, 2/40 Battalion, shortly after release from being a prisoner of war (POW), showing the effects of dysentery, beri Beri and malaria. Imprisoned at Nakom Paton, he was hospitalised on 20 July 1945 and had been forced to work for ten days with dysentery. His condition is typical of the Allied prisoners of the Japanese at the end of the war. Pte Boyce enlisted on 8 July 1940 and was discharged on 18 February 1946.
