Outdoor group portrait of the No 4 Initial Training School, RAAF soccer team. Identified in the back row from left to right: B Davis, Albert Wraith (later O33105 Wing Commander); and 416534 William Bethune (later Warrant Officer).
Second back row from left to right: 416662 Charles Ernest Evans (later Flying Officer); Cecil Tasman Curran (later O30174 Flight Lieutenant); 27285 Corporal Frank Vardon (later Warrant Officer); and G Bushell (probably 8393 Pilot Officer George Bushell [killed in an accident off Sardinia on 25 November, 1943]).
Front row from left to right: 409303 Flying Officer Vernon James Hedley (lost on operations over Germany with 460 Squadron on 16 March 1945); 408923 Sydney William John Peak (later Flying Officer); 409305 Warwick Thomas Hollings (later Flying Officer); 416594 Colin Kerr Menzies (Team Captain and later Flight Sergeant) [killed on flying operations over Germany with 101 Squadron on 17 April 1943); 26704 Sergeant Albert Henry Gray (Team Coach and later Warrant Officer); H P Williams; and 409278 Flight Sergeant Frederick James Ross (lost on operations over Germany with 139 Squadron on 20 August, 1943).
