Description
A grave site (mass grave No 3) to the north-east of the Tawiri Valley, where bodies of 61 Australians (including men of 2/21st Battalion, Gull Force and RAAF personnel) and Dutch servicemen were found. The original party of RAAF Australians was commanded by 250101 Wing Commander (Wing Cdr) Ernest Dallas Scott, AFC, Station Headquarters, RAAF, Darwin who had been captured by the Japanese and executed on 6 February 1942. The grave is one of four mass graves in which the victims of the Laha massacre were buried. After the war, the bodies were moved to the Ambon War Cemetery. Note the thick Jungle surrounding the clearing.
