Wampo (Wang Po), Thailand. 20 October 1945. Wampo is approxiately 114 kilometres north of Nong Pladuk (also known as Non Pladuk), or 300 kilometres south of Thanbyuzayat. Two Japanese soldiers who acted as a "welcoming committee" for Allied troops standing beside a sign post carrying the message "The rest place of the glourious (sic) Armies of Allions (sic), Supply Dept of Wampou (Wanpu)".
