Description
Outdoor group portrait of a group of patients with nursing sisters at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup. The hospital was developed as the First World War's major centre for maxillo-facial and plastic surgery. Opened in 1917, the hospital and its associated convalescent hospitals provided over 1000 beds and between 1917 and 1921 admitted in excess of 5000 servicemen. Identified third from the left in the group of sisters is Edith Houston. Sister Mildred Crocker Brown, AANS, is also believed to be one of those present.
