Five student pilots from No. 7 Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS) course at No. 5 Elementary Flying Training School (5 EFTS) Narromine. They are from left to right: 400732 Aircraftman (AC) Gordon Orchard; AC Douglas Scott; Leonard Reid; 404553 Pilot Officer (PO) Douglas Wilberforce Spooner Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM); 402745 PO Rawdon Hume Middleton, who later flew with No 149 (East India) Squadron RAF and was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross (VC) for actions taken on 28-29 November 1942.
