Studio portrait of 3141 Private Edward Ernest Robert Victor Collins, 50th Battalion
Description
Studio portrait of 3141 Private (Pte) Edward Ernest Robert Victor Collins, 50th Battalion from Maylands, South Australia. A 26 year old driver prior to enlisting on 12 October 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 8th Reinforcements of the 50th Battalion from Adelaide on 16 December 1916 aboard HMAT Berrima. Following further training in England, he proceeded to Belgium where he joined the 50th Battalion on 7 July 1917. Pte Collins was killed in action at Passchendaele on 14 October 1917 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium with others who have no known grave. [See also image P09291.059.]
