Portrait of Eric Douglas Hillcoat (NX8113)
Description
Informal portrait of NX8113 Gunner (Gnr) Eric Douglas Hillcoat, 2/1 Field Regiment, RAA, outside a tent. Originally from Lakemba, NSW, Gnr Hillcoat was listed as missing during the evacuation of Greece. A subsequent enquiry determined that he had been killed on or about 24 April 1941. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Athens Memorial, Greece. Written on the reverse of this postcard is a letter from Gnr Hillcoat to his grandmother and aunt, dated 19 February 1941.
