Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX10440 Sapper Kevin Thomas, 2/1 Australian Railway Construction Company, Second Australian Imperial Force, Middle East, c 1943.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one letter from Major S Horne, Commanding Officer of 2/1 Australian Railway Construction Company, to Sapper Thomas’ friend, Miss Adame. In his letter, Major Horne informs Miss Adame of the circumstances of Sapper Thomas’ death and the arrangements made for his belongings.

History / Summary

Sapper Kevin Thomas enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 16 May 1941. He served with 2/1 Australian Railway Construction Company, Royal Australian Engineers, in the Middle East. On 9 November 1942, Sapper Thomas died as a result of injuries sustained in an explosion of a water heating apparatus. He is buried at Beirut War Cemetery, Lebanon.
