Informal portrait of Warrant Officer (later Lieutenant) Bertram Alexander Gordon Watts (left), 5th Victorian Mounted Rifles and an unidentified soldier. Watts later served in the First World War, was awarded a DSO in 1916, and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col), 4th Field Artillery Brigade. Lt Col Watts was killed in action on 10 April 1917.
