Description

The radio series "War Correspondent", Program 5: Sergeant James Rogers VC, produced by the Directorate of Public Relations. The story of Sgt Rogers who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions during the Boer War in South Africa, 1899-1902. Rogers had served in South Africa with the Victorian Mounted Rifles, and gained the V.C. during subsequent service with the South African Constabulary. This recording was subdivided from S00236. This recording includes a dramatised depiction of the events leading up to Rogers' VC awarded action with actors playing parts of Australian riflemen.
