Studio portrait of 128 Corporal (Cpl) John Lea, 11th Battalion. A labourer prior to enlisting on 17 August 1914, Cpl Lea embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 2 November 1914. He transferred with his unit to France in April 1916. Cpl Lea was wounded in action on 1 November 1917 and died the following day. He was 23 years old.
