Informal group portrait of members of the 3rd Australian General Hospital at Lemnos. Left to right:4503 Bugler James Thomas Hampson; Warrant Officer Henry Hazlett; Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Ernest George Hewish; 4450 SSgt Harry Reginald Poole and 4708 Sergeant Charles Alfred Poole. Following a transfer to the 19th Battalion and with the rank of Second Lieutenant, Hampson was awarded a Military Cross. Second Lieutenant Hampson died of wounds in France on 6 October 1918, aged 27. This image is from the collection of 4403 Staff Sergeant Ernest George Hewish, 3rd Australian General Hospital.
